Chapter Eight

Jon answered what he could and Richie also answered some too. He felt he had to tell the guys about Kristen and what Doc put her up too. The brothers didn’t like what they heard and especially Rick because Richie was a little too truthful to them in what he told them. Jon wasn’t too thrilled only because he felt what happened in Bon Jovi stayed in Bon Jovi but Richie needed to tell them that Kristen was here for one reason and one reason only and that was too seduce Jon and that he was a little too into from Mary’s point of view. He also felt that she would have told them the same thing and he thought it would be better if they heard it from them instead of her. Jon sat there giving Richie the stink eye but Richie just ignored him as usual. A.J. took notes as Rick paced. Richie looked at Rick and wanted to laugh. Now he knew what Mary saw in Jon. There was a lot of Rick in Jon. Mary never knew her Dad and Rick was the closest she ever had to a Dad. And they always say that the daughter usually picks the man she loves to be closest to her father. Well she came damn well close with Jon because he was as close to her big brother as she could get. Hot tempered, sweet but doesn’t want anyone to know, drinks, loves women, loves rock music, close to his family, needs things his way, yeah she nailed it right on the nose he thought to himself as he smiled. Jon was looking around the room and his eyes fell on Richie looking back and forth from him to Rick. He furrowed his brow trying to figure out what the hell Richie was doing or thinking now. A.J. looked at him and asked if he was alright and if they could continue.

They worked late into the night when they finally gave out because they all were exhausted. So they all called it a night and left. As Jon was getting ready for bed his phone rang and he jumped at it because he thought that it might be the hospital calling. “Hello?”

 “Jon?”

 “Yes? Who is this!” he demanded not recognizing the woman’s voice.

“You don’t need to know who this is just yet. I see that my handy work well…worked. Did she die?” the woman on the other end asked.

“What? Who the hell is this!” he asked pissed.

 “I asked is she DEAD!” she yelled.

“No she’s not but she’s very ill. We don’t know if she’ll make the night.” He said angry not knowing who this woman was.

“She should have died right there! Damn it. There was enough poison in there to kill an elephant! How? Argh! Never mind but you better watch your back too Bon Jovi because your next!” she told him and hung up. Jon just stood there staring at the phone in shock. He redialed and got the Simon’s room. A.J. answered which he was happy for. He told him what happened and A.J. told him not to tell anyone about what happened until they see him in the morning. Jon couldn’t get any sleep he tossed and turned all night and was having nightmares that Mary had died in his arms. He shot up in a cold sweat and he was breathing real hard. He decided to take a shower to see if that would help but it didn’t. He didn’t want to try and go back to sleep so he picked up his guitar and tried to see if he could write.  

As morning came Jon was still writing and it seemed he was making some progress. The lyrics and music seemed to be flowing from him and he didn’t want to analyze it too much. He didn’t know where this was coming from. Sometimes it took a while to get it just right but this time everything just seemed to flow and he thinks he knew why. He was writing this for his girl. He needed Richie thou to go over this to put his finishing touch on this for him so he would give this to him later. He couldn’t wait for Mary to listen to this. He’d sing this to her just the two of them when they’re alone in the privacy of their bedroom. He put his guitar away and turned on the t.v. and put on the news. Then called down to room service and sent one of the body guards down there to watch them prepare his food. He wasn’t going to take any chances. Doug then brought everything up with him as Sal let him in. They never question Jon in anything he asked them to do for him only because Jon paid them well and he treated them well. That’s why they were loyal to him. By the time he had finished his breakfast and he just kept the pot of coffee when there was a knock on the door. He got up to answer it and found out that it was the Simon’s. After the hello’s and what’s they got down to what happened last night. Jon started to tell them about the phone call and what she said to him which explained the body guards at the door. Jon had called them last night just to be on the safe side. The brothers started to hash things out now trying to put the pieces together. They decided to rule out Laura Davies seeing that she was way to in to Jon and when they went to interview her she really didn’t have the nerve to hurt anyone after Rick had gotten thru with her.

“Why what did you guys do to her?” Jon asked curious.

 “Well let’s say that Rick scared the hell out of her and what would happen to her if she ever did hurt you or Mary and that prison would be a thing for her.” A.J. told him as he tweaked his face.

 “But what about those photos she found with her picture all x’d out?” Jon asked.

“Yeah well she said she would have done that to anyone you were dating and that she saw that done on t.v. so when she was taking photos of you guys and cutting out pictures she thought that she would do it too. You know for a dramatic feel. Believe us Jon she couldn’t hurt or kill anyone she doesn’t have to stomach for it. So now our focus is that Kristen chick. We have Town do a full background check on her. Laura’s came back clean anyway.” A.J. told him. Meanwhile Rick was on the phone trying to get in touch with Town.

“Oh I forgot to tell you guys but the other night I think it was about four nights ago we kind of had a little tiff and well to make a long story short I had to go back to the arena when she got this delivery of flowers Lilies to be exact.” Jon told them a little pissed. They looked at him a little shocked.

“I take it that you didn’t send them to her then?” Rick asked.

Shaking his head, “Nope I didn’t and you can guess her reaction.” Jon said.

“She freaked didn’t she?” Rick said.

 Jon looking at her brothers and not wanting to tell them what really happened that night, “Yeah she did.”

“You know we may be looking at this all wrong.” He told them.

“What do you mean A.J.?” Rick asked.

“Well we’re looking at the obvious suspects. Well maybe it’s not even them. What if it has to do with Michael’s past.” He explained to them.

“Michael’s past? I thought we were over with that?” Jon said.

“What if were not? I mean why the Lilies? Someone out there wants us to believe this is linked to Michael that’s why the Lilies. Then the phone call saying first she should be dead then you. They want the both of you dead. So it has something to do with revenge. It has too why would they want the two of you dead?” A.J. asked.

“They want her dead because she’s with me?” Jon asked.

“They do they want you dead too. Yeah usually if they can’t have you then nobody can but usually if they do away with the other party then they wouldn’t threaten your life they would just try to get to work themselves into your life. Besides this smells of Michael all over it. Let me call Town back and have him get on this A.S.A.P.” Rick said as he went over to the phone. They waited till late afternoon until Town was able to call back with the information they wanted. It seemed that they had forgotten that Michael had a sister Jasmine as she called herself.

 “Wait a minute Jasmine? She hit on me in the bar that she worked at. Michael wanted to get Mary jealous so she hit on me remember?” Jon stated.

“Yeah I remember. You were bombed out of your minded.” Rick chuckled.

“It wasn’t that funny Rick. You would have killed me if I had taken Jasmine up on it.” Jon said uncomfortably.

“Yes I would have killed you. I was there remember oh you don’t.” Rick chuckled again. Jon stood up but A.J. came between them. “Really Rockstar?” Rick said.

“Alright Rick knock it off.” A.J. told his brother.

“Wait wasn’t there a waitress that died named Jasmine?” Jon asked them.

“Yeah apparently Michael gave her Jasmine’s wallet so the cops would think it was his sister. His sis look an awfully lot like her. But Jasmine got stopped six months ago for speeding in another state and Town got wind of it. Needless to say she got busted for a few things.” A.J. told him.

Right then the phone rang and Jon went to answer it. “Hello? Yes this is he. Really when? Yes I can be there in about forty-five minutes if not less thank you. That was the hospital Mary’s awake I’m going now are you guys coming or what?” Jon asked her brothers.

“Sure.” A.J. told Jon.

“Ok just let me get dressed then and we can go.” Jon told them. They got to the hospital and went to reception first so they could talk to her doctor. He told them that she could leave today as she was free of the poison and doing well. It didn’t do any damage to her and that she was one lucky girl. They headed to her room as she was dressed and ready to leave.

As Jon was the first to enter, “Hey Baby I see your already to get the hell out of here.”

“Yes I am and all I want to do is…” but that’s when she saw her brother’s walk in. “A.J.! Rick! What, how, why?” she asked as it stumbled out of her mouth and jumping first into A.J.’s arms then Ricks.

“Hey Sweetie glad you’re doing better.” A.J. said as she moved over to Rick.

“Yeah but how come you’re here?” she asked.“Well Jon called us he was a little concerned after you were poisoned?” Rick said agitated. Mary just stood there not knowing what to say to her brother. A.J. saw that she was uncomfortable so he broke in.

“Why don’t we take her back to the hotel and fill her in on our plans doesn’t that sound good?” he asked everyone.

 “Ya that sounds great A.J. come on I have the car waiting for us down stairs. Baby I’ll get the nurse so she can take you alright?” Jon said. Everyone agreed and went back to the hotel when they got her into the car.

Back at the hotel everyone went back to Jon and Mary’s room as Jon got Mary settled.  “Jon stop I’m fine.” she told him as she chuckled.

 “Ok, ok I’m sorry I just want to make sure you’re alright.” He told her concerned.

“I know that’s why I love you but you’re going to drive me crazy if you don’t stop.” She told him as she pulled him down and kissed him. Rick saw this and did smile a little but he wasn’t going to let them know that.

“Oh really guys don’t you guys get enough of that?” he asked them with a cranky face. They just looked at him smiling with their foreheads together not really caring who saw them.

 A.J. was on the phone and just hung up and walked over to them. “Alright that was Town and he got the info back on Davies.”

 “Well what did he say?” Mary asked anxiously.

 “Just calm down and let me tell you. Davies has no priors but she does have problems apparently with what’s real and what’s not. She sees a psychiatrist about this but has never been arrested for it. She think’s Jon is her boyfriend but that’s all. Last year it was Rick Springfield. A couple of years ago it was Shaun Cassidy. But she never approached any of them so Town said not to worry about her. So we go back to the beginning.” A.J. explained to them. Jon and Mary just looked defeated. Rick and A.J. noticed that they looked like two lost puppies.

“Hey guys don’t look so down. Believe it or not we do have a clue to who it might be.” A.J. told them.

Both of them now straighten up. “What do you mean you have a clue to who it is?” Mary asked.  

“Well Jon told us that you received some Lilies not too long ago right?” A.J. asked her.

  “Um yeah but I just thought it was some nut case that may have read it in the newspaper or saw it in the news when all that happened. That’s why I thought it was Davies.” She explained to them.

“Well she did look guilty. So did that Kristin tell you the truth because I still wouldn’t count her out. There’s just something about her I didn’t like.” Rick told them.

 “Ok then but you still haven’t told me who you think it might be?” she asked them.

 Looking at each other A.J. took a deep breath and said, “We believe it’s Michael’s sister Jasmine. She’s either trying to gas light the two of you or setting you guys up for a bigger fall. So right now Town is trying to see if he can locate her.” A.J. told them.

“Watch he’ll find that her last stop was here.” Mary said sadly.

Getting off the couch that he was sitting next to her he got down in front of her on one knee and taking her hands in his and said, “Baby it’s going to be alright. I’m not going to let anyone hurt you I promise. Michael’s dead remember? So he can’t hurt you anymore. And if it is his sister she can’t hurt us either ok? I won’t let her.” He said softly as he lifted her hand and kissed it. Smiling she mouthed Thank You. Rick and A.J. looked on smiling as Jon was comforting their sister. They were still angry that the memory of Michael still terrifying their sister. At least they knew that she had someone like Jon who could not only take care of her but love her like she should be loved.

The brothers told them that they were going to the local police station to see if they could get any info on Jasmine Johnson-Dallas and that they would get back to them as soon as they could. Jon called room service for their dinner and as they were finishing the phone rang. “Oh that could be my brothers.” Mary said to Jon.

“Ok, ok I’ll get the phone don’t have a cow.” Jon told her as she rolled her eyes at him.

“Hello? (as he answered Doc laid into him) but…but…I…I know… but…DOC SHUT THE HELL UP! Look I can’t talk to you right now and screaming at me isn’t going to help. We’re on for tomorrow so don’t worry. I’ve got things under control. And what the hell do you care you’re not even here? I thought you we’re suppose be giving me one on one service, personal service what a crock! Step it up pal and start earning your pay check or I’ll find someone who will!” Jon told him sternly as he slammed the phone down. That keyed him up and Mary knew it. They didn’t need that right now they had enough on their plate.

 Smiling she thought she would try a little humor, “I take that was Doc huh? Only because smoke usually doesn’t come out of your ears when you talk to Richie or anyone you like. Oh wait a minute it sometimes does when you talk to your mother.” She said as she giggled. He looked at her with a glare and sauntered over to her as he stared down at her. She wasn’t sure if he was kidding or if he wasn’t so she just sat there biting her lower lip nervously.

“Think your funny don’t you?” he asked in a slow deep voice.

“Who me?” she returned her answer as she shook her head slowly and pointing to herself.

“Yeah you?” came his slow drawl. She was really trying not to giggle now.

Looking at her he really couldn’t believe she was laughing. “Really? I’m trying to be all sexy here and you’re laughing?” he asked her giving her his pouty look.

Patting the seat next to her for him to sit down, “Baby I’m not laughing at you anything but. You’re sexy as hell and you know it. I was laughing at what I said to you I wasn’t sure how you were going to take it and when you looked at me well…” she stopped and he took her hand.

“I know, I know why do you think I got into it with you Baby I wanted to see if you were going to play but instead you laughed at me. But how do you feel? I mean are up to you know?” he asked her not wanting to say exactly what he wanted from her. Again she wanted to laugh at him but she was afraid that this time he would take it personally. So she leaned into him so she could kiss him but before it could lead to anything there was a knock on the door. “You know this is becoming habit!” Jon exhaled excitedly. He got up to answer the door as there was the bellhop standing there with a package. Jon gave him a generous tip to get rid of him and shut the door.

“What it is Sweetie?” she asked him.

“Don’t know and don’t care. Can we just continue our conversation we were having in the bedroom please because hum now you’ve woken up the Kidd and he wants some attention ok?” he said very agitated with the interruption.

Mary turned to him now really giggling. “You named it Kidd?” she said to him. That had about did it for him he walked over to her and picked her up over his shoulder as she yelped and brought her into the bedroom as he slapped her bottom but good. This was going to be one hell of a night.

They had locked themselves away that night as the two them wrapped each other not only around each other in body but also in mind and soul. She noticed there was something different in him and she couldn’t put her finger on it. It wasn’t like he was more tentative, he was always like that in her needs. He just seemed more gentle in their love making than normal. In the beginning he seemed he couldn’t wait to get started she thought and that meant usually a rough start so he could get off. She always just thought that was a guy thing and with Jon she didn’t mind because he never hurt her. But this time he didn’t do that it was all about her and he took his time with her each time they made love though out the night. Jon was the one who woke first and he quietly got out of bed. He went to the door where that package was and quickly hid it so Mary couldn’t find it. Then he went to see her brothers before she woke up. Well that didn’t work out to well for him because she did wake up to find his side of the bed empty. She moved her hand over the sheets to find that he wasn’t there so she called out his name and when he didn’t answer she hoped that he was with Richie. She got up and went to the bathroom and when she returned to the bedroom she was going to call down to her brothers but that’s when she heard the living room door open and close. “JON!” she yelled out.

“Yeah Babe it’s me.” He yelled back and he walked into the bedroom.

“Where were you?” she asked.

Thinking fast, “I was with Rich why?”

“Well I was missing you?” she said as she walked over to him putting her arms around him. “What’s got you smiling like that?” she asked him.

He was about to tell her when the phone rang. “I swear to God! I got it.” Jon said as he rolled his eyes.

“Well I can’t take it I’m exhausted from last night!” she laughed as she flopped on the bed.

“Hello? Hello? Is this Jonny?”

“Who the hell is this?”

“Your worst nightmare Baby. She’ll be dead by tonight you got that and not even her brothers will be able to stop it.” And the caller hung up.

 Mary sat up slowly. “So who the hell was that?” she asked him.

He sat next to her on the bed and took her hand. “I know you don’t want me to lie to you so I’m going to give it to you straight ok? ‘shaking her head yes’ I believe it was that nut case Jasmine and she was just threatening us that’s all nothing new. I’ll make sure extra security is added when you go out and at the venue ok?” he told her.

“What about you?” she asked.

“Well if I don’t have extra security too Doc will kill me himself. Don’t worry Baby I’ll make sure I’ll have it too. Plus I need to tell your brothers that she called again. But first let’s call for breakfast I’m starving for some reason.” He told her kissing her deeply.

“Oh I wonder why!” she yelped as he pinned her down. About an hour later they finally called for breakfast and then Jon called her brothers and told them that Jasmine had called earlier. Rick started to ball him out for not calling earlier but A.J. told him to put a sock in it.

As they were eating Mary asked him about the package that came last night. “Honey what was in that package that came last night?” she asked him. He looked at her and needed a cover and had to remember to tell Richie later on.

“Oh I brought it over to Richie this morning remember I told you that I was over there. Apparently the bellhop accidentally delivered it to us last night but I didn’t read who it was for until this morning because I was a little encaged last night.” He explained to her while wagging his eyes at her.

“Very funny oh and speaking of funny when the hell did you name your…” she started to say as he stopped her.

 “Can we forget that please? Or I’ll show you again what he can do!” he said starting to get up.

“NO! No ok I believe you Sweetie I believe you. Plus we don’t have time the guys are going to start to pile in here pretty soon and we have to take our showers before they get here.” She told him.

“Are you telling me we stink?” he asked her smiling.

 “Just get in there will you?” she told him while slapping him on his ass. She should have known better because he turned around and made a grab for her and dragged her in with him. To say she felt loved by the time the guys got to their room wasn’t exaggerated. Jon put out all the stops on not only telling her how much he loved her but showing her. They didn’t get many days to themselves but when they did they used them to their advantage. They learned the hard way thanks to Michael to cherish each day they have with each other. 

It wasn’t long that everyone was sitting in the living room of their hotel room laughing and going over the set list that Jon had just finished. Mary was sitting next to one of the girlfriends when the phone rang. “I’ll get it.” she told them like any of them heard her. As she shook her head she got up and picked up the phone, “Hello? A.J.? I can’t understand you? Where are you? Yeah I know where that is; sure I can be there in about half an hour. No he’ll never know he’s too busy right now with the guys but I’m still having a hard time hearing you? Yeah alright see you then.” She told him as she hung up. April asked her who it was on the phone. She had to think fast because she didn’t want Jon to know but she knew she could also trust her. “April come with me in the bedroom please.” The two of them quietly stepped in and she explained to her who was on the phone and if she had any ideas to get her out of the room without Jon knowing?

“You know Mary didn’t this get you in trouble before with him?” she asked her.

 “Yes but my brothers need me right now and Jon will have a fit if I go without him or his stupid security team that will get in the way. My brothers have their own way of doing things and they’ll just fuck it up. Help me please?” she begged her.

“David will kill me you do know that right?” she told her.

“Not as bad as Jon will me.” She said squinting her eyes and making a face at her.

“No but after David Jon will kill me second! Fine but you owe me one BIG!” she told her.

Mary had gotten dressed and they left the bedroom which did not go unnoticed by Jon. “Hey Baby where are you going? We don’t have to be at the arena until this afternoon?” he asked her.

Turning around “I know it’s just that April and I were going to just step out for a little bit we need to pick up a few things.” She lied to him.

“April you didn’t tell me you needed anything earlier this morning?” David asked her.

“We didn’t know we needed anything until Mary and I started talking you know girl stuff Dave!” she said to him giving him the eye than to Jon. The guys just looked at each other then understood where the girls were coming from.

 “OH! Right that well go ahead we don’t want to stop you then do we JON!” Dave looked back at him rolling his eyes as Richie tried hard not to laugh.

Patty got up and Looked Richie straight in the eye. “Don’t laugh Rich I’m going with them. Have fun guys.” Patty looked at the girls and bent her head towards the door. They stepped out and she asked what the hell was going on and they better tell her. They explained as they first hit April’s room then hers. Patty agreed with April that Jon was going to have a shit hemorrhage when he found out but they would help her to lose the security team that would dog them. They told them that she decided not to go and it would be only the two of them.

Security had no reason to question them nor did they question Jon and the guys when they left for the venue seeing the girls told them that Mary wasn’t feeling very well and wouldn’t be going to sound check this afternoon. They just hoped that she would be back in time for the concert so Jon wouldn’t get suspicious. Mary headed down to the old warehouse like A.J. told her but she didn’t see him or Rick. She didn’t like the feel that she felt in her being so she carefully went into the warehouse taking out her gun. She looked around to see if she could see anything but it was really dark in there so she held her breathe and continued on. She finally came to an opening where she thought she could see someone tied to a chair so she carefully walked up to him hoping it wasn’t one of her brothers when everything went black. The sound check went off without a hitch and everyone seemed happy until Patty and April walked in without Mary.
